With the new rule that prohibits earning USBC high score awards during post or prebowls, this can affect your league depending on how your Bye rules are.
This was clarified and I wanted to forward the results.
1) If you follow Rule 114C with the "Earn The Points" rule, then the team who must do a pre/post bowl and is scheduled to oppose the Bye team for that week can NOT earn the high score awards. Granted, this discriminates against this team, because all the other teams who oppose REAL teams have the opportunity to post/prebowl those games and get the awards providing they schedule and oppose eachother during the makeup/prebowl.
This is, by the way, is the DEFAULT rule now, so if your league bylaws do not specifically state which method, you must use this.
2) If you follow Rule 114C with the "Draw" system, then 3 teams would be required to makeup / prebowl to qualify for the high score awards; The team opposing the bye, the drawn team ( whos scores will substitute the bye team) and the team opposing the drawn team.
You can imagine how hard this will be.
3) If you follow Rule 114C with the "Bye" system, then there isn't any problems.... Then again... With this rule.. The team opposing the Bye team doesn't bowl, so there is no awards that could be earned anyways.
The heart and spirit of the reasoning behind this ruling in August is completly understood and valid. But you can see some situations that can be affected.
